Web Design Services
If you want or need a website, I recommend you use one or both of the
following people.
If you are a newcomer to all this, and perhaps thinking about setting
up your first web site, then I unreservedly recommend the services of Andrew Kenny. He runs a company called Distortion Ltd, and you can
contact him via his website: www.distortion.co.uk
.
Andrew knows his stuff, works quickly and designs really neat,
practical sites that (a) look good and (b) get results. He has a special talent for
explaining technical stuff in simple terms that clueless newcomers can understand. This is
important when you're just starting out. Also, I can guarantee that nobody provides better
value for money or is easier to deal with. Mention my name and he'll shave a few extra
percent off for you.
Just to clarify, Andrew didn't design this site for me. I did most of
it myself, which is why it doesn't look very cool. However, Andrew has done lots of web
bits and pieces for me over the years, and helped me refine the practicalities of this
version of my site (if I had just asked him to do the whole site, it would be ten times
better than it is). I've recommended Andrew's services to half a dozen friends who were
going through the My First Website phase, and they have all been 100% very favourably
impressed with his work.
The other guy you should know about Tom Salinsky.
Tom can do everything that Andrew can do and vice-versa. They both do great work and offer
unbeatable value for money. Tom designed, wrote and coded the Online Store part of this
website, enabling me to accept credit card orders and trade with the world. If you want to
be able to handle commercial transactions on your site, believe me there is a lot
of hard work involved and plenty that can go wrong. Just call Tom, explain what you need,
cough up the money and leave him to it. He is not cheap, nor should he be, but he is
outstanding value for money.
As so often in life, you get what you pay for, and with Tom you get a
degree of right-first-time dependable quality and attention to detail which is hard to
find in this field, and essential if you want to run a commercial site.
Believe me, I've been through the whole process and you must have a safe
pair of hands to build and maintain the commercial aspect of your website. Tom is
also a nice guy and - as I can personally verify - very patient with clients even if
they're as slow on the uptake as I am. You can contact Tom here: tom@tomsalinsky.co.uk
. Tell him you got his name from my website and he'll give you a small discount. It won't
be much (when you're as good as Tom, you don't need to compete on price) but it will be
better than nothing. Oh, and he knows a few cool card tricks as well!
Special note: These guys
are based in the UK, but even if you are overseas they can still do some work for you.
It's strange but true: when it comes to web site design, creation and implementation, it's
possible to do the whole thing remotely, from anywhere to anywhere. So don't think
location is necessarily a problem.
