As most of you know, Blackpool is the largest magic convention in the world. I was invited to lecture at this year's Blackpool Convention, and I created a brand new lecture for the occasion. These are the corresponding Lecture Notes.

Actually, these 'Lecture Notes' are a 40 page booklet with sturdy laminated covers. I had the booklet professionally litho printed so that the photographs would come out clearly, and they have! There are 99 photographs and illustrations, so the explanations are crystal-clear and easy to follow.

Everyone who has seen these Lecture Notes has praised the high production values. Please note: these Lecture Notes are complete and self-contained - you do not need to have seen the lecture to read, follow and understand all the great material inside.

So what do you get? The booklet is in two parts. Part One is devoted to mentalism, specifically close-up and informal mentalism. Part Two is devoted to original card sleights and tricks that put them to good use.

Can You Read Minds?: What do you do if someone asks if you can realIy read minds? There are many options, but I think this routine is one of the finest. It's very simple and direct, and an absolutely sure way to win and hold attention (you will have to read the patter to see why it works so well). So what's the essence of the trick? Well, you play an entirely imaginary game of choice and chance with a spectator, yet you prove you can read her mind! Entertaining, easy to do, and (after some simple one-time preparation) you can do it any time, any place, anywhere.

The Pentagram Oracle: A strikingly effective and highly visual 'spirit writing' effect. There is clearly nothing written on the blank cards you show to the audience, then a question is asked and spirit writing materialises to reveal the answer! Truly mysterious and bewildering - the writing just appears from nowhere! One second it's not there, and then it is ! No fakes, flaps or gimmicks. Clean and self-contained, with nothing to hide or steal away - the perfect 'everything can be examined' finish (if that's what floats your boat). A very versatile method that you will love. Can be adapted to suit almost any performing style or situation - close-up or stage. Props? Use anything you want, blank boards or cards or plaques or pieces of wood... it's up to you!

The Bolder Book Test: I'm very proud of this! Use any two books to deliver a devastatingly impressive piece of pure mind-reading (nothing written down). This is my all-time favourite impromptu book test. It is based on David Hoy's well-known 'Bold Book Test', sure, but with a spicy fresh twist that takes in into a different dimension. Very deceptive and convincing. This is one of those effects that is so sly it could almost be classed as mental cruelty. I've shared this with several top mentalists, all of whom have been delighted by the possibilities. Very subtle, very baffling and yet simplicity itself to perform. 

Pseudo Anything: How to use just four pieces of paper to entertain any audience with a demonstration of astrology, graphology, ESP, psychometry... or just about any other 'ology' you want. The possibilities are endless! One of my favourite close-up routines, and a great 'packs small, plays big' item.

The Meltdown Plus Colour Change: A strikingly beautiful and highly deceptive colour change that can also be used as a switch or a force. Explained in great detail with several comprehensive photos sets.

The Flexicon Switch: A smooth and subtle switch that is baffling and indetectable. Show a card, turn it face down... and you've switched it! Indetectable no matter how slowly you do it.

The Lateral Colour Change: My own highly original 'pet' move that has delighted every card worker I've shown it to. A visually impressive transformation that is seemingly without explanation. Can also be used as a force (explained and taught in detail).

The Las Vegas Cut: A dynamic, engaging routine building to a very strong, visual triple climax. One of my favourite openers. This hits them hard... then hits them again... and then hits them again!

The Twinfallible Prediction: You put two 'infallible' prediction envelopes on the table. Two cards are chosen, under very free and fair conditions. The predictions are found to be accurate but curiously (and amusingly) unimpressive... until you prove that you really did predict the future. Twice!

Sort Of Any Card At Any Number: Possibly the easiest of all 'ACAAN' effects, any one of my favourite pieces of 'parlour' magic.
