Mind Power lecture show > Content details

Here is a little extra detail for you.

Please note that I tailor the presentation to suit the audience and the context. Different audiences have different needs and preferences, and my aim is for each audience to gets what they want from the 'Mind Power' show.

Core themes
The core themes of the lecture show are as presented on the Overview page. I maintain that your main purpose in life is to fulfill your potential, whatever it happens to be. I suggest that to do this, and to achieve your goals or accomplish positive personal change, it's a good idea to start with your own mind: to learn how it works, how it sometimes does not work so well, what it can do and how it can bring about seemingly 'magical' results.

Real mind power
I discuss and demonstrate some of the real and useful things that your mind can do, and how you can put them to good use. The following subjects are typical of those featured:

- the real power of positive thinking (a much misunderstood term!)
- the real power of applied visualisation
- the real power of personal positive change
- the real power of running your own business
- the real power of making money even while you sleep
- the real power of 'instant' problem-solving
- the real power of memory
- the real power of creativity
- using your four minds
- the principle of virtuous circles
- the real power of knowing what is and is not 'possible'

The general themes of the lecture show can be shaped to suit the special needs and interests of any given audience - from corporate executives to academic groups and anyone interested in self-development.

Doing impossible things
Although these subjects are of interest to many, what brings the lecture to life are the demonstrations I use to amplify and illustrate each point. To cut a long story short, I make it my business to do impossible things right in front of your eyes. Weird things, brain-twisting things that every ounce of your intuition tells you can not be done. Some of them look like the things psychics do (but I make it clear I'm not psychic), while others don't look like anything you have seen before, because only I do them.

The demonstrations of the impossible are there as illustrations, as metaphors, as analogies to help you appreciate what real mind power is all about. They also help to keep the show entertaining, and to keep people thinking.

Avoiding common confusions
Unfortunately, the term 'mind power' is generally associated with two groups of people: so-called psychics, and adherents to various New Age philosophies.

I like many 'psychics' as people and would never make criticise them personally, but I have no reason to suppose they are, in fact, actually psychic. After all, I know how all the 'psychic' feats are really done, and I have performed all of them for the past 20 years - even though I'm about as psychic as a coffee pot (for more detail, see Television Miracles). I also have reservations about the New Age movement, chiefly because I think it aims low and raises false expectations.

In the lecture show, I develop the theme of real mind power, as distinct from the psychic circus and the tinsel mythologies of the New Age.

There are many motivational speakers around. I'm different. This lecture show is different. It will leave you dazed and amazed, amused and delighted at the real mind power we all possess.

"Ian's lecture was a goldmine of tested, solid ideas… ideas you can use. The applause at the end of a wonderful evening was long and loud, and the comments in the clubroom were 100% enthusiastic. Please can we have him
back?"
