The person in the audience was a young woman called 'Sam' (presumably short for 'Samantha'). Esther Rantzen stood next to Sam holding a sealed envelope. The two of them were about 20-25 feet away from me in the studio at the time. I invited Sam to think of anyone she knew, and to focus on their initials. I asked her to take her time, and to make it a completely free and random choice.
