
Deadly Down Under / North South HeadThis map ( from http://www.auinfo.com/ ) shows some of the peculiar ins
and outs of Port Jackson and Sydney Harbour, with North Head and South Head highlighted.
This is the best map I could find after a comprehensive search lasting over five
minutes on Google.

Barry, Peter and myself were at North Head, so we could gawp across to South Head and,
in the far distance, some of the familiar landmarks around Sydney Harbour itself. I asked
Barry to point at these in a photogenically satisfying manner, and he duly obliged.
 
No photograph can capture how bracing and exhilarating it is to visit either of the two
Heads and look across to the other, but I took several snaps anyway. I have enjoyed
compositing these into assorted panoramic views. These composites never turn out in
practice quite as well as they do in my imagination, but there's no harm in
trying. The image below is two photos blended together:

For this one I've actually used a bit of digital magic to blend together five
photos: the four from above plus one which wasn't actually taken in Australia. Are you
eagle-eyed enough to spot where the digital trickery comes in? No clues, you have to work
this one out for yourself:
