Deadly Down Under / North South Head

This map ( from  http://www.auinfo.com/ ) shows some of the peculiar ins and outs of Port Jackson and Sydney Harbour, with North Head and South Head highlighted. This is the best map I could find after a comprehensive search lasting over five minutes on Google.

Barry, Peter and myself were at North Head, so we could gawp across to South Head and, in the far distance, some of the familiar landmarks around Sydney Harbour itself. I asked Barry to point at these in a photogenically satisfying manner, and he duly obliged.

No photograph can capture how bracing and exhilarating it is to visit either of the two Heads and look across to the other, but I took several snaps anyway. I have enjoyed compositing these into assorted panoramic views. These composites never turn out in practice quite as well as they do in my imagination, but there's no harm in trying. The image below is two photos blended together:

This image is a composite of four photos:

For this one I've actually used a bit of digital magic to blend together five photos: the four from above plus one which wasn't actually taken in Australia. Are you eagle-eyed enough to spot where the digital trickery comes in? No clues, you have to work this one out for yourself:
