Deadly Down Under / The CreatureJust to labour the point, although the
spider was harmless, I had no way of knowing this. For all I knew at the time, it
could have been the deadliest thing on eight legs. Here are two views of the cheery little
fella.

I like this next shot, chiefly because it's such a good view of the spider's abdominal
markings which....

...look great if we zoom in a little. I don't think it would be hard to suggest to
someone that this was the 'Death's Head' spider, or the 'Screaming Face' spider:

Here's my left hand, for size comparison. As I wrote on the main page, this spider may
not be 'large' by Australian standards, but by British standards it was massive.
Easily the largest real-life spider I'd ever seen. Of course in Photoshop you can take an
image like this, mess around with it and make the spider look even bigger. I've done this
(fairly quickly) in one of the examples at the bottom of the page.

Here's one I tweaked a little in Photoshop, just to make it look a bit more menacing.

And some more examples of the fun you can have making 'Super Scary Spider' images in
Photoshop...

Sweet dreams.
