Way Out West / Bill Palmatary and Import Precision

So, Bill Palmatary is a good guy to hang out with: dry wit, smart, a good LA host. So he's an acknowledged whizz kid when it comes to websites, internet commerce and that sort of stuff. Into the whole skepticism / magic angle on life. And he lives just round the back of the Hollywood sign.

This is all pretty cool... but it's not quite the whole story. Because Bill also founded a little business called Import Precision. And what's that all about? It's about do-it-yourself vertical lift conversion systems. In other words, modifying your car so that the doors open upwards, like this...

Putting this another way, it's about turning your cool car into a super-cool head-turner that wins any my-car-is-cooler-than-your-car contest hands down.

As it happens, on this particular trip I did not get taken for a spin in Bill's car. However, I did on a subsequent trip... and there is no doubt whatsoever that it was the coolest, most regal driving experience I have ever had.

Special note for anyone interested: the car featured above is Bill's own car: a Mitsubishi 3000GT Spyder hard top convertible. Only 376 were ever made, and there are only 83 with the exact same options. It is not an inexpensive vehicle. The retractable hard top alone added  arouund $20K to the price.
