How To Be A Writer

Are you wondering how to be a writer? Does the idea of being a professional writer appeal to you... but you're unsure how to get started or where to find work? I can help.

I've been a professional writer for a long time and it's a truly wonderful way to earn a living. Here are just a few of the good points:

  • It's a job you can do from home or from anywhere.

  • There's tremendous variety.

  • It can sometimes be extremely well paid.

  • It's a career you can take in several different directions.

  • You get to help people in countless different ways and solve problems for them.

  • People tend to like writers and the things we can do! You'll make a lot of friends along the way.

So, where do you start? How do you become a writer, find work, earn a reasonably good living and have some fun once in a while?

I offer training and coaching with regard to all aspects of building a career as a professional writer. You get the benefit of my forty years of professional experience, during which time I've worked as a feelance writer, technical writer, ghost writer and writing consultant. I've written:

  • Comedy sketches broadcast on TV.

  • Promotional material for everything from cheese to bicycles.

  • More technical docs than I care to remember.

  • Training material for the FBI, Coca-Cola, Google and dozens of other companies both large and small.

  • Several books for myself or others (in my capacity as a ghost writer).

  • Over 200 books and articles for magicians.

Not many people can offer you the same range and variety of experience.

Training sessions are conducted by Skype or Zoom, whichever you prefer. It doesn't matter where you are in the world — we can always find a mutually acceptable time. Each session lasts about an hour but I'm not strict and if we over-run a little, that's okay.

Sessions costs £90 (ninety British pounds) and the minimum booking is two sessions. All training is covered and protected by a signed contract.

Interested? I'd love to hear from you.
