Career Summary
For the first chapter of my career, I spent about six years working in corporate media and marketing, mainly as a writer and producer. I worked with leading brands such as Savoy Hotels, Boots and Pedigree Petfoods. What I really loved was the range and variety of the work. I helped companies to sell everything from glue, shoes and cheese to bread, bicycles and bathrooms, painkillers, pet food and plastic pipes!
I then moved on to the IT industry, which I greatly enjoyed. I started off as a lowly technical writer (aka 'professional exoplainer') and ending up as the UK Sales & Marketing Manager for Valtech, a global IT solutions company.
I've worked for myself as a speaker, trainer and entertainer since about the year 2000. I've also written a few books, such as 'The Full Facts Book of Cold Reading', 'Cold Reading For Business' and 'People Joy'.

10 Fun Facts
1. I am the only person from outside the United States ever hired to train FBI agents.
2. I do the best Christopher Walken impression you've ever heard. It's uncanny.
3. I've written about a dozen books that you can find on Amazon. The three most popular ones are 'The Full Facts Book of Cold Reading', 'People Joy' and 'The Moon Carrier' (which is a book of original romantic poetry!).
4. I am a member of the Magic Circle and often perform there. Although I rarely work professionally as a magician and mindreader, I have performed all over the world and I have lectured to magicians at 'The Magic Castle' in Los Angeles.
5. I play the guitar to a reasonably poor standard. I am entirely self-taught and it shows.
6. I love travelling. I'm probably the only person you'll ever meet who has been to Komodo Island (to see the famous Komodo dragons), been to Easter Island (to see the famous stone statues or 'moai') and stood on the glaciers of Milford Sound.
7. I used to write a perform sketch comedy shows with Eddie Izzard (now Suzy Izzard) and some of my sketches were broadcast on TV.
8. I have an honours degree from Sheffield University in English Literature. At the time I got this degree, I didn't know anything about English Literature and wasn't even interested in the subject. This is still the case. 'Passing an exam' is not the same as 'knowing about the subject'.
9. I give very good tarot readings. I am not psychic and I don't believe there's any good reason to believe psychic powers exist. But I don't get argumentative about it.
10. I am the world's greatest fan of rock musician Mike Oldfield. My biggest unfulfilled ambition is to meet him. His third album, 'Ommadawn', released in 1975, changed my life.
