About The Magic Circle
The Magic Circle is a private members-only magic society based in London. It was founded in 1905 and is regarded as one of the most prestigious magic societies in the world. I love the magic community and the Magic Circle in particualar.

How The Ranks Work
When you first join, you are MMC which stands for 'Member of the Magic Circle'.

If you get promoted, because of the quality of your work or your contribution to magic, you become an AIMC: 'Associate of the Inner Magic Circle'.

Later on, if the Preident deems you worthy of further promotion (and only the President can decide this), you become MIMC: 'Member of the Inner Magic Circle'. This is the highest rank of all.

You can become MIMC even if you aren't necessarily a great performer. For example, you could be promoted for your services to magic. To be made 'MIMC with gold star' indicates that you are considered a very good performer.

I am pleased and proud to be MIMC with gold star,

Joining The Magic Circle
People often ask me how you become a member of The Magic Circle. There are various ways but I'll describe the most typical path.

First, you apply to join, proposed and seconded by two existing members. Then you have a short interview to assess your current magical knowledge.
If your application is accepted, you become an 'Apprentice' of the Magic Circle. You then have a year in which to take what's called your 'exam' or audition. This involves performing a short magic act (8-12 minutes) during a Monday club night, in front of three judges and a room full of current members. Some people find this rather scary and intimidating! If you pass your 'exam', you're in! If not, you can try again after a period of time.
