Training: How To Think Like A Magician

Overview

Magicians figure out how to achieve seemingly impossible things all the time. This course isn't about learning magic tricks. It's about the way magicians think in order to achieve seemingly 'impossible' goals. The point is to encourage strong, creative, 'can do' thinking skills that attendees can apply to problems and challenges — in business and in everyday life.

What Happens

This talk or course is structured around four principles. When I discusss each of these principles, I refer to real-life case studies — from business and from history — showing that people achieve seemingly 'impossible' things all the time. The four principles are:

  1. Start from 'I can'. If your working assumption is 'I can't', then you'll never make any progress. When you confidently assume that there is a solution that's waiting to be found, you're more likely to achieve the vital breakthrough.

  2. From 'block' to 'unlock'. We all tend to sabotage our own creative thinking without realising it. I will show you how to go from 'blocking' your creative mind to 'unlocking' its amazing potential.

  3. You find what you look for. If you ask your brain 'Why can't we do this?', you'll think of reasons why it can't be done. If you ask your brain 'How can we do this?', you'll start to think about the problem in a completely different way.

  4. 'Impossible' is fun. Magicians don't see the word 'impossible' as disheartening or a negative. We see it as a notion to play and have fun with. Anyone can tackle a problem that sounds possible to solve. Isn't it more fun, and interesting, to try to achieve something that sounds impossible at first?

Benefits

The three main business benefits are:

  • Greater confidence. Attendees will feel much more confident in their ability to tackle problems that seem difficult or even impossible at first.

  • Practical thinking tools. This course gives people practical thinking tools they use in business and in everyday life.

  • Positive company culture. Imagine what your team or company could achieve if everyone had a positive, 'can do' attitude and a desire to achieve breakthroughs that deliver a practical, competitive edge!

Tone

There are three elements to this course: some magical entertainment, practical thinking skills and illustrative real-life examples of famous business breakthroughs. The tone is pacy and entertaining yet also thought-provoking.

Notes

One thing clients tend to like about this course is that it does offer a nice, productive blend of entertainment and training.
