Here are some examples of Ian’s most popular training and skills transfer programs.
1. The Practical Persuasion Method (PPM)
Duration: 90 minutes to 3 hours | Includes printed class notes for all attendees.
One of my most popular training programs — because it really works! This is for anyone who wants to truly master the art of successful, ethical persuasion. I start by providing a new model of ‘persuasion’. I then describe and illustrate a practical, 4-step process that you can put into practice whenever you’d like to be more persuasive.
During this class or course, I invite attendees to suggest examples of real-life situations in which they would like to be more persuasive. I then lead a class discussion to explore how the PPM would apply to each specific example and make a positive, successful difference.
This is the course I've successfully presented to top executives from Coca-Cola, Google and the Stansted Airport management team.
2. You Can Do More Than You Think
Duration: 1 to 2 hours | Includes printed class notes for all attendees.
First, I present you with a challenge that you feel is completely impossible -- something you're absolutely sure you could never, ever do. Then, I show you that you can do it once you know how!
In this fun, enjoyable and highly illuminating class or course, I present a series of demonstrations that foilow this pattern. People who feel sure they have a terrible memory suddenly find they can perform great feats of accurate memorisation! People who say they can't do mental arithmetic suddenly find they can!
The point is simple: I want you to go from blocking your mind to unlocking your mind. It's about reminding yourself that you don't really know what is or isn't possible, and developing a 'can do' attitude. It's fun but it's also tremendously important for anyone interested in personal success or the success of their team or company!
3. Creative Problem Solving
Duration: 1 to 3 hours | Includes printed class notes for all attendees.
In this lively, participative class I present a number of practical strategies for solving problems -- even seemingly impossible problems. I share a number of examples, from business and history, of times when these practical strategies made a significant, positive difference and converted failure into success.
All attendees will leave with a positive, 'we can find a way' attitude towards problems and challenges. This class builds trust, encourages collaboration and equips all attendees with tools they can use right away. A perfect team-building event for groups or leadership offsites.
4. ‘Cold Reading’ For Business (CRFB)
Duration: 90 minutes to 3 hours | Includes: printed class notes and a book for all attendees.
The term ‘cold reading’ normally refers to the psychic industry. It basically means ‘how to talk to people as if you’re psychic’ and it’s the secret behind seemingly ‘astounding’ psychic insights.
The interesting part is that you can take the communication psychology of cold reading and apply it to other contexts, such as business and sales. You will learn how to build instant rapport and credibility, make strong and persuasive connections with people and make accurate statements to a client or sales prospect -- even a complete stranger -- that can never be wrong! It’s all ethically positive. The course is essentially about a special set of empathy and communication skills that most people are not aware of.
5. People Joy
Duration: 90 minutes to 3 hours | Includes printed class notes and a book.
My book, ‘People Joy’, offers a new take on inter-personal skills and the transformative power of intentional conversations. This is, in essence, a masterclass on conversation, rapport and successful communication. You will never think of conversations in the same way again.
Attendees will learn how to engage the attention of just about anyone, be likeable and memorable, navigate conversations with empathy and build lasting social or business relationships. Most of us waste the vast potential of the conversations we have every day. I will show you how to make the most of them — and reap spectacular rewards.
6. Adventures In Magic!
Duration: 60 minutes to 3 hours | Includes printed class notes for all attendees plus all necessary props and supplies.
I am a member of the Magic Circle and an expert in what’s called ‘mentalism’ -- the type of magic that looks like mindreading. In this fun, ‘hands on’ class, you will see amazing mindreading demonstrations and learn how to perform magic and mind-reading tricks yourself!
This is more than just another team-building exercise. You will also gain valuable insights into performing and presentation skills, the art of misdirection and how to develop personal confidence. This class is highly recommended for teams and groups that want to connect, laugh and learn.
What Makes My Training Unique?
Why do my corporate training and team-building sessions offer unique value? My clients say there are three main reasons.
1. Experience. When you hire a speaker or trainer, experience makes all the difference. I've been doing this type of work -- which I love -- for over twenty years. I have developed plenty of experience when it comes to preparing a training session, presenting it and making sure everyone enjoys it and benefits from it.
It's also relevant to note that I spent 20 years in business and industry before I became a speaker, trainer and entertainer. I worked in corporate media and then IT, which involved senior management experience -- I was the UK Sales & Marketing Manager for a global IT company. This means I can relate to the problems and issues that your management team and staff want to talk about.
2. Relevance. Every client, every company, every team is different. I don't offer ‘off-the-shelf’ training or 'same every time' sessions. I will talk to you ahead of time, listen to your specific goals and concerns, and put together a training session (or sessions) specifically tailored to suit you.
3. Practicality. I teach practical, real-world skills that work. If you want fancy theories that sound good but don't really help in real life, I'm not the trainer for you. I demonstrate the skills that I teach and show how they make a positive difference in real life.
